In classes this week my Mixed media kids are finishing up Artist trading cards and then moving on to a mastery assignment. 

 What are artist trading cards?

Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5".

How did the movement start?

In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world. There are also many online swaps.

Drawing 2 is well on the way to finishing their Comic book covers, they range from Spider-man to The Last of Us.  They are coming out awesome.  

Intro to Drawing is working on drawing a toy in some place they wouldn’t expect to find it.  They are also coming out great.  

Portfolio is coming to the end of our constraint unit.  

The Big news is that our HPS showcase 2023 is coming up next month.  There will be art from all the schools in town in the cafeteria from 6-8 on April 27, 2023.  The Portfolio students show will also be open that night in RM 103 which we will have transformed into a gallery.  
More Big News The HHS PTO Mini Grant Committee has granted us $600 to purchase watercolor supplies to use with advanced students. Thank you so much HHS PTO.
