  Mr D’s Art Room Blog:3/24/23 In classes this week my Mixed media kids are finishing up Artist trading cards and then moving on to a mastery assignment.    What are artist trading cards? Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5". How did the movement start? In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world. There are also many online swaps.   Mr D’s Art Room Blog:3/17/23 Happy Critique Day! The Portfolio kids had a major critique today with the graphics 3 kids and the AP Ceramics kids. It was great to have a good solid conversation about the work that all the kids are producing and about possible directions that the work could go. The critique was three periods long and was incredibly valuable. Bravo Advanced kids. This was a great way to guide the kids toward their show in April.

Small post this week about course selection for next year.  Several course titles have changed in an attempt to streamline the process of selection.   Introduction to Drawing has become Drawing 1 , Course code: 910 this class is open to anyone. Drawing and Painting 1 has become Drawing and Painting 2, Course code: 920 this class is open to anyone who has completed course 910 Drawing and Painting 2 has become Drawing and Painting 3 Course code 921 this class is open to anyone who has completed course 920 Portfolio is Course code 933 and is open to anyone who has completed course 921 Mixed Media Course code 938 this class is open to anyone.   Sorry no pictures of the kids this week but here is a llama.
