Mr.D’s Artroom Report: 4/7/22

Introduction to Drawing has finished their Object Out of Place drawings and they are great. They are now working on creating drawings that are on a grid of 2 inch squares that cover an 18 x 24 piece of paper and if my math serves me that means they are designing 108 squares.  Their initials are the subject of each design and they are only using pencil for this.  The squares all need to be different and each one has to work as an individual design and as part of the whole project.  This is very challenging for them.

Drawing and painting 2 are still  working on designing comic book covers and boy they are awesome.  They need to base it around the concept of the figure, how the students choose to finish the colored version is up to them, some are going to paint them, some are going to use markers, some are going to use graphite.  I am really excited to see how these turn out.

Portfolio class are working on their personal collages that will be installed at our advanced students show in April.  They are designing individual works that will be assembled together to create one cohesive work for the 5 students.

Ceramics and sculpture 1 have been working on their new project.  They are designing signs that have some relationship to themselves or their families.  They are doing an amazing job.  The mugs came out great

Mixed Media have been working on work that encompasses the skills that they are learned so far and are working on their intent or voice that is developing as artists.  They are having to create pieces that are related to a message they want to put into the world.
