  Mr.D’s Artroom Report: 3/22/22 Introduction to Drawing is hard at work using the skills they learned in parallel lines and basic shapes and colored pencils to create drawings that place a toy they brought in from home somewhere where it wouldn’t normally be found.  They are using reference photos and observation to create these drawings.  Their use of colored pencils looks like painting.  They are doing a great job.   Drawing and painting 2 are working on designing comic book covers.  They need to base it around the concept of the figure, how the students choose to finish the colored version is up to them, some are going to paint them, some are going to use markers, some are going to use graphite.  I am really excited to see how these turn out.    Portfolio class are working on their personal collages that will be installed at our advanced students show in April.  They are designing individual works that will be assembled ...

Mr D's Art Room Report 3/10/22

  This week in Mr.D’s Artroom report: Introduction to Drawing is working on the Object out of place lesson, the first step was for them to begin to understand the ideas of how to look at an object critically. They began this by learning to look at an image and break it down into basic shapes, circles, squares and triangles.  No matter how complicated an object is, it can be broken down into these three shapes or a variation of them.  Then the class learned about the use of parallel lines to make an object recede into space.  Combining these two skills is part of the goal for this project, how to see, how to combine the two skills learned and to create with synthesis of these skills  They also learned how to use colored pencils to their fullest potential.  Mixed Media is working on a new skill.  They have learned how to collage and decollage pieces and they now are learning to make stencils.  Mark Bradford was the artist that was the inspiratio...
